The Strangers Brewing Company has created Pikestaff especially for Battle 500. It is a traditional Scottish Ale, around 4.2% ABV, with a focus on malt flavours and character, similar to a traditional 80 Shilling but lighter in colour.
Scottish brewers in the 1500s were likely to use local flowers in their brews (heather was a famous ingredient in Scottish ales) alongside hops. So, Pikestaff will also have small additions of heather and elderflower in the brew, a nod to what brewing might have been like at the time of the battle.
